As part of the implementing the 7.1 - Redundancy Requirement of the Third Edition UL® 1981 Standard, the Watch Dog2 application is installed on each Work Station (PC) that will be used by an Operator to Process Alarm Signals

The WatchDog2 application - used in conjunction with the Redundancy process - must be Version 1.0.0.15 or later.

WatchDog2 requires a Connection Manager entry (titled WatchDog).

It uses these CSID Zones which must be defined for the "SPA" Subscriber whose Subscriber Panel CSID is SPA.

 

Signal ID = A114        Alarm Code = System Messages        OCTAR = Alarm        Description = Database Disconnected

 

Once started, the WatchDog2 application will show an Icon in the Hidden Icons display

The installing Technician will configure WatchDog2 for the specific computer on which it will be running.

The WatchDog2 application "pings" each of the database servers to see if they are "available."

a)If the Primary server (Server 1) goes down, WatchDog2 tries the Alternate Server defined in the Connection Manager

i.If available, it will start the Alternate Server defined in the Connection Manager

ii.If not, it will start the Alternate 2 Server defined in the Connection Manager.

 

When a supervised equipment failure occurs (e.g., Signal ID A114), an Alert tone is sounded, and the appropriate message is displayed:
